At any child care centre in Baldivis or across Australia, children love the opportunity to express themselves artistically. While you may see a child’s painting as, well, child’s play, it is much more important than that to your child. That’s why we have Jessie’s Art Time for your child every week as part of our curriculum at each Cuddles Childcare Centre in the Perth area.
Jessie’s Art Time is a special time for the children. They are given ample opportunities to express themselves creatively both as individuals and as a team. The children not only have a lot of fun; they also have projects they can bring home to show you. We always recommend that you make sure to tell your child how proud you are of their project and find a place in your house to display it for them.
The best way we can tell you about Jessie’s Art Time is to tell you about some of the projects the children have worked on in the past. For example, after Easter, to celebrate Easter family camping, they used finger paints to make campfire shapes. The children were asked what they would like to do with the campfire and they decided to “roast marshmallows.” They painted marshmallows on a stick and had a great time.
One project celebrated the Centenary of the Anzacs. The children corroborated to build a large wreath. The wreath was circular and had paper “leaves.” Then, as they talked about Anzac Day, everyone made a red poppy. The children talked about those who had served 100 years ago. As the children placed the poppies on the wreath together, they learned about our proud history.
That month, the children also worked individually to create a beautiful flower out of tissue paper. The children then dyed their flowers and they decided they were going to give them to someone special when they got home. Their mums were thrilled.
