Notable Changes to the EYLF: What You Need to Know

01 Apr 2014 By Cuddles Online

When it comes to childcare and younger education in the country, the Early Years Learning Framework, or the EYLF is an important foundation. This program, initiated by the Australian Government, is designed to cultivate the learning of the children from birth to preschool and guide childcare centres and educators in providing quality education and making their transition into regular school easier. Recently, changes have been made to the format of the EYLF that make it effective than it ever has been.

Changes to Early Years Learning Framework in Childcare

Universal System

For the first time in the program’s history, every territory and state in the country is united in their goals for the EYLF. This creates a kind of uniform system throughout the nation which will ensure that every child receives the proper care they deserve.

These standards include an increased attention of educators to each child and a better support system for children’s learning and developmental skills. A rating system has also been implemented so that the parents can determine and will be aware of the quality of the education provided for their children.

Educators’ Roles

The role of educators in the EYLF has also changed slightly for the better. Among the new year’s changes, one of the most notable is the improved ratios of educators to children. By having more educators, each child gets more attention, which will increase their learning quality and effectiveness.

In addition, there are now higher standards for qualifications of educators. Each one must have a higher level of education, but most importantly, significantly more experience in child care. This improves the entire quality of the education provided because the ones directly implementing the lessons are more qualified for the job and have the experience to enhance the education itself.

A Brighter Future

The year 2014 marks the dawn of a new era in childcare and preschool education. For the first time, each childcare centre in the country has the same standards, from Perth to Brisbane. In addition, the qualifications and number of educators are increased, thus improving the quality of education for every young child.
