At any Cuddles Childcare Centre in Perth, we always provide plenty of opportunity for your child to exercise. Physical activity is important in the development of any child, from the cradle to the “golden years,” but is extremely important in young children.
When they are young, children develop habits that they keep for the rest of their lives. A child who develops the habit of exercise, especially through play, is more likely to exercise and stay healthy throughout life than one who doesn’t.
The benefits of exercise are well-documented, so we won’t go into any lengthy tomes here. The main benefits of exercise boil down to an old saying: “Use it or lose it.” For those who are more research-oriented or would like to read about the efficacy of exercise by two doctors whose work has shaped the physical therapy industry, you are invited to go to Wikipedia and enter “Wolff’s law” and “Davis’ law.”
Wolff’s law, written sometime in the 19th century, simply says that bone in any healthy animal or human will adapt to the pressure put upon them through a process called “remodelling.” Davis’ law, formulated sometime before 1913, says pretty much the same thing and is seen as a corollary to Wolff’s law, but refers to soft tissue or muscle.
These laws have been around for over 100 years and haven’t changed. Your child’s body will develop based on the demands he or she subjects it to. If children do nothing, their bodies don’t develop well. If they exercise a lot, their bodies develop more muscle and denser bone. They also develop motor skills, coordination and self-esteem.
One of our favourite programs at Cuddles Childcare Centres in Perth is Junior Soccer Goals. Junior Soccer Goals teaches soccer to the children, with the emphasis on fun. This allows your child to learn a beautiful game without the burden of competition, while developing motor skills and growing stronger bones and muscles. It is also great for cardiovascular health.
Junior Soccer Goals is just one of the many opportunities your child gets to exercise at Cuddles Childcare Centres in Perth. Call any of our centres for more information about how your child can benefit from our comprehensive early learning program.
